I'm sure it could be done, may have to modify the hitch mounting a bit.

GM 3913608 would be late 60's Chevelle, Camaro or Monte Carlo bracket.

I'm sure I could have with a bit more effort. The hitch is very easy to change up the configuration.

Re: New bumper and receiver

Great thread, just what I am up to, except building my structure from a combo of a Jeep Cherokee and Mercedes Benz A Class towbar.

Thanks for pics, they make life a lot easier.

Re: New bumper and receiver

I did the same thing as Eric, and it's real straight forward. I used new bumper brackets for a '67-'72, and my hitch came from Early Classic, and it was for a '67-'72. I had to drill the frame to match the holes in the hitch, no big deal. Once I got it in place, I marked the backside of the license plate box and cut the hole for the receiver access. I plan to use a '60s era license plate hinge so I can access the receiver when I need to.

I still need to shim the bumper away from the bed because it's really tight. I need to ensure the bed is bolted up and squared before I do anything, though. I may not have to shim it.

Re: New bumper and receiver

Pretty basic install using the 67 brackets and bumper. Trim the ends a bit so they don't contact the bed sides. What else would you like to know?

Re: New bumper and receiver

Alex's (Chevyrestoguy) install is the advanced version. Mine was the quick and dirty version. I don't have the patience for that kind of detail!

Re: New bumper and receiver

So when you trim the ends do you have to have it rechromed to keep the ends from rusting?

Re: New bumper and receiver

I just painted mine. A little rust will match the rest of the truck.

I saw the pictures of what you did and saw all of those badass aerospace tools laying on the ground (inside joke....). Your install is just as nice if not nicer than mine!
