Wing window questions
Is the stud (that the spring is on) spot welded to the chrome metal glass frame? I have one that isn't attached and was wondering if broken or they were held in with spring force into a dimple.
Also I'm assuming the 72's have an extra tapped bolt hole in the main framework to line up with the extra screw in the door?

Re: Wing window questions
Are you talking about Part #1 on this page?
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=19 I am pretty sure that whole part is welded on, but I'll have to take a look when I get home (I have a spare that is not in the truck atm) |

Re: Wing window questions
Yes, thank you Dorian, It's the stud that is directly above #6 (spring) in your drawing. It is shown as part of the chrome surround so it probably is welded on like you mentioned. If you could confirm that would be great!

Re: Wing window questions
Hey, digging up this old thread. I have the same issue with my drivers side wing window. It will stay in the closed position fine but if I try to open it the pivot point will pop loose. So looking at the attached LMC diagram it looks like I can tack it back together. Is it that simple or am I missing something?
Is the spring just a tensioner to keep the window from flopping around? http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=24

You should be able to tack weld it. That's the nice thing about the Mig welders, you can keep the welded area pretty cool. The spring is an adjustable tensioner that never gets lubed so that puts a lot of stress on the joint between the window and tensioner stud. Check this thread out, "highwinger" and I posted a lot of info in it on removing, rebuilding, and installing vent windows.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=660294 LockDoc
