He's the same guy who leaned those heavy rolls of roofing felt against the side trim. What's your name, son? .. You're fired!

Thanks for posting CV65 ! You just helped identify this shell for me. Says GT in one place and can barely make out Gem Top on the rear decal.

Man! Two killer shells there! Nice score on yours Jon. How long you had it?
I wish the Oregon CL one was closer, I'd be all over it.

About a year Bruce . Came with a nice low mile black and white GMC . Interestingly , truck was purchased in Oregon new and later lived in California . Another item based on location like bumpers .

Re: Gem Top Camper Shells

Hey Jon, is yours steel as well? I imagine it could be somewhat heavy? Sure looks cool. Kinda motivates me to start cutting on the aluminum Sportsliner that is sitting in the driveway covering the log splitter.

Its steel, had to go back and look though. Doesn't look to overly heavy.

Re: Gem Top Camper Shells

Thanks for the cool pic CV! There's a guy in Redwood City that has a 64 - 66 Long Fleet with one of those toppers. Sure are cool.
Just a question for anyone who has one.. Being that the tops are made of steel, what is the finish on the steel? Is it paint or galvanized? I've seen a couple of the Pullman tops that are steel but all of the ones that I have seen have been painted.

Haha, I should have read instead of just looking at the pictures. Very interesting indeed. Just noticed that someone had written down 235$ on the picture in the top center. Man wish they were still that cheap. It looked as if there were all sorts of options to choose from.

Re: Gem Top Camper Shells

Not sure if this will fit someones short bed fleetside (it's way too wide for my stepside) since it was on a ford, but here are the measurements the guy gave me:

Width = 74 and 1/2”
Length = 79 and ¼”

I noticed that also. In today's money it would $1780. I haven't looked at camper shells in a long time, or maybe ever, so I really don't know what they go for now.

Yep, looks like they maybe altered the color to match the green windows. I like it!

Re: Gem Top Camper Shells

Thanks oem4me for posting photos of the truck a shell This is the type of old school stuff that has disappeared from the landscape. Most all shells today are boring molded fiberglass and painted the color of the body, hard to tell a pickup from a Suburban Tahoe etc. The '65 stepside might be a great addition to the "most original in existence" thread or "Fawn" trucks thread.

Yup. Seems obviously standard turquoise now that you say that. I guess those cool green topper windows made my eyes think green paint. In any case, luv it!
