I'm in the same boat as you. My driver's door had 10 holes in the outer skin because the owner(s) just couldn't figure out what mirrors they wanted to run. I have found other holes that just don't make any sense at all.

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

Because he had the luck to double gasket the oil filter and have no problems and sells it to me that way. I, however, made it 10 miles down the highway and it blows out, in the middle of nowhere, and 50 miles from home!

Hind sight, it was for the best. The wheel cylinders were bleeding so bad I was about of out fluid.

Ah memories!

Re: I hate some previous owner because.....

If all of these stories weren't so familiar I would be hysterically laughing.

I really don’t mind poor man fixes that are reversible or are still safe, but “repairs” like gouging out holes, removing structural members and patching things up just to sell are criminal.

Thanks “LostMy65” for directing me to this thread

Acetylene torch? I have a truck where someone cut a big chunk out of the frame-mounted perch with an acetylene torch to clear headers. Not even the most hacked thing on that POS...

The same guy (presumably) beat/ripped a giant hole in the firewall behind the engine with what looks for all the world to have been a dull chisel!

They torqued the oil filter to 250ft lbs without ever bothering to oil the gasket....

"Every part ever needed for this truck is there" As I attempt to put the truck together I am buying searching asking etc for the parts I need to put it together. And I'm just in the rough build stage.

Just take a close look at these plugs. All different lengths, some with electrodes, some without, the ones with were closed up.

Re: I hate some previous owners because.....

I got my 65 from a meth head. There was fork screwed to the floor with wires wrapped around the prongs. Door corner patches were filled with pocket change and bondoed over. It was many years ago, I'm sure there was more.

They took wire screen and lined the inside of the passengers cab corner then poured in (what looked like) melted rubber into the corner up to the level of the cab floor. After that a little bondo was added to the outside, smoothed and painted. What a nightmare that was to get out.

Re: I hate some previous owners because.....

Sometime between me owning my truck, and then selling my truck, and then buying it back, some dufas cut holes in the firewall. I'm guessing he wanted headers but it just got too hot in the cab. :-D Stupid

Im guilty of this obe on my own truck. I just eish I could get the original screws out of the door for an original mirror(they are stripped and bondoed over from original owner)

I feel your pain. Every body panel on my truck was like this exempt the hood.
At least 3 or 4 gallons of bondo must have been used.

Re: I hate some previous owners because.....

three weeks ago, my neighbor bought a late 70's Toyota 4x4. Not sure exactly what year. Not a bad looking truck but he bought it for a toy to go out and beat on off road. Last weekend he took it for its maiden fun trip to a local off road park. He got back and said that he thought he broke the bench seat somewhere because it felt like it was moving.

So yesterday we pulled the seat out and oh how I wish I had a camera...there were 2 inch square holes where the seat was supposed to bolt the the cab floor on the passenger side. (front and rear). The PO had cut the floor out and patched it with.....PEPSI CANS!!!!!! He cut a Pepsi can and actually super-glued it over the hole, then painted over it with black paint. Then ran the seat bolts through the aluminum. All that held the seat in place was the drivers side. Before we fix, he called the highway patrol to come out and inspect it as it was sold in this condition with no mention. We will see what comes of that.

PEPSI CANS
