Re: 64 daily driver project in NC
Did some work last weekend, had two buddies come over and give me a hand. Found a guy in town with some lowering springs for sale. Not sure on the drop but I'm still going to have to get some spindles for the front to bring it down just alittle more. I also changed the wheels out the old one would've been too wide to lower it without hitting the rear fenders. What us guys think?

Truck looks to be in pretty decent shape.

Man I usually like chrome wheels, but on your truck with the gray, I like the black wheels. I think your tires and wheels are the right size but for me I would want to tuck them inside the fender more.

Re: 64 daily driver project in NC
Thanks yeah part f a reason of why I bought it was it was pretty solid, someone did do some patches on it but it was minimal it still have all the original floors. Bottom of the doors are showing some spots where there is rust, I'll have to fix that. I do metal work on old cars for a living, so it's no big deal to fix that.

Re: 64 daily driver project in NC
Hey been a long time since I updated on here, have really been working on the truck a lot, been driving the crap out of it. But I ended up have an issues out of the motor it kept kicking not a rocker out sideways and bending the push rod. Found there was a notch wore into the rocker stud that was causing it. Went to pull the stud to replace it when the head cracked around the bossing where the stud comes out. So it was time to do some top end work.
So bought a set of heads, brought them to the machine shop. Had screw in studs and guide plates, and had them check everything out. The two guys I work with helped me out and we replaced the heads, while we were in there I went with roller rockers. And changed the headers to a-body style headers. And of course I had to change a bunch of other things while I was in there to make everything work together.... Taking the top end off gave me a good change to see what this motor had in it, so it is a .30 350 with flat tops, something around a .520 lift cam. The heads that came off were 2.02 valve heads. Seems like a well built motor. Since I was running a body headers they dump out right into the transmission crossmember so I ended up making a new one out of the scrap laying around. I also threw in another turbo 350 I bought off a friend that was just in better shape then the old one. We also put a shift/reprogramming kit in there with it. Here's the new transmission crossmember Well that's it for now. I think next will be re-wiring the whole truck. It needs it badly. And finding another frame for it, this truck took a good hit at one time and the frame is bent.... But it still drives fine just wanna replace it sometime. |
