First time c-10 owner...going all in
Well I've been looking for a build for quite awhile and I finally found something that caught my eye, a 70 lwb. Two days later I bought a parts truck lol. I figure its already almost off the frame so might as well do a frame off right? I've done this type of work at my job before but this is the first time with my own money haha. Any suggestions of good websites for parts? I've already checked out a few but never hurts to ask. Here she is, not the best pic but its what I have on me.

Welcome from Omaha! I am in the final stages of my '72 LWB, lots of good parts around if you are patient. Check through threads and ask questions about the different suppliers, it makes a big difference where you get your parts.

Re: First time c-10 owner...going all in
Well I plan on doing a frame off but it won't be restored to factory. Will have a 4/6 drop, tubular front control arms, disc brakes all around. I pretty much just plan on getting the frame and suspension done this first year or as much as the check book allows haha. I got the green 71 or 72 here for parts today. I think I've done well so far two trucks one with a complete motor and tranny the other with a disassembled motor and another tranny all for $1150. Oh did I mention one has an 010 block and the other has double hump heads (fist pump lol)

I got most of my parts from Classic Parts, I compared prices on all the parts I needed on a few sites, Classic Parts was $250 cheaper on a $1300 order than the ones I looked at. Received everything in good condition. Don't two trucks through them now and they've treated me well.

I use truck and car shop for most of my online part purchases that I can't find here on the forum. Had good luck with the forum and truckandcarshop.com.

Re: First time c-10 owner...going all in
I second Craigslist. I have a complete rust free 67 front end to be put on mine when it gets here. I don't really use catalog parts unless its driveline or suspension. If its body or interior its local CL or I make it from sheet metal. Welcome and good luck.

Re: First time c-10 owner...going all in
The classifieds here on the forum and the vendors on the home page are the go-to for parts. Much of the mechanical is available thru your auto parts store or Rockauto.com

Re: First time c-10 owner...going all in
Nope nothing since I got into a rolling chassis. No heat in the garage as well as no insulation. Plus I cant really do most of what needs done until I heal up more. I've been doing some more research tho lol
