I went from a 250 to a 402. Bought all of the big block specific parts and just shortened the stock driveshaft to 59.5 inches. Used the stock mounting location also. It was straightforward and not difficult. Mine has a TH400 trans. I already had a 3-row radiator and the engine runs at normal temp and has not gotten hot once. I have not hauled a load with it or pulled a trailer so I cannot speak to those conditions but I don't believe it would overheat. Good luck with your swap.
