Re: Finally coming together
Doing the new wiring harness. Bought a wire crimper that worked very nice doing the Packard 56 connectors. reused all the old connections. All the cab wiring harness comes out behind the motor.

Re: Finally coming together
Pulled tranny back 4 or so inches. Got the flex plate off. After market cheap starter chewed up some teeth. It's been making noise for a while. My bad. Got a late 90s delco starter coming. Also got the hole drilled for the gas cap. Measured for an hour before I drilled. Off by 1/8" but all is good. Which is good cause I was down to a gallon or so of fuel. Lol. Working tomorrow then back on Thursday. Suppose to be 70s and sunny in Dallas Thursday and Friday. Love it.
Also got my insurance done today so I hope to make a drive Friday for sure. |

Re: Finally coming together
Got the delco starter in. Love it. Everything mechanic is running awesome. Just driving it and enjoying it right now. Still have to wet sand and buff the bed. Did some street racing with a 454 built 73 truck. I'm very pleased how the 402 did. I hanged with him the one race I had both tires hooked up. Just couldn't keep traction. One wheel peel lol.
Future Eaton posi with 3.42s maybe even 3.08s. have 3.73s now. Switch to a 700r4 which will give me a 3.06 first gear and overdrive vs the 400s 2.48 first gear |

Re: Finally coming together
It's Christmas!!!! My California car cover came in today. Love it. Super soft on the inside and fits perfect. Now I can keep this black SOB clean maybe. I highly recommend these covers. Worth every 40,000 penny's
Wife is trying to steal my motor for her 66. But I've been wanting to build a 496 anyways. Last edited by 72_swb; 01-26-2017 at 10:11 PM. |

Re: Finally coming together
Tool aid was the brand of the tool. Wellllllll worth the money. Works great for packard 56 terminals. I also bought some aftermarket connectors. But they where not as good as factory. I reused all my factory connectors.

Re: Finally coming together
Here's the company I used for electrical connectors. And here's a pic of where all my wires come out of the firewall. Under the throttle cable you can see.
