I think that might depend on the strength of the spring in the hood release latch spring (72 latch). When I pull on mine, it pops the hood all the way open. Maybe I need to work on that?

I think it would be pretty difficult to open this setup by reaching through the grille. Not impossible, but not easy and way harder than having a handle hanging out there, . Bottom line, if someone wants in bad enough, they'll figure out a way, .
