Sway bar bushing
I'm rebuilding the front of my truck and I think at some point in the past 45 years someone may have switched out the original sway bar for a thicker one.
Mine measures 1-1/16", but the bushing I got in my kit measure ~7/8". Is this correct? |

Re: Sway bar bushing
Yes, 7/8" is the standard for a C-10...But in the past few years folks have been adding the heavier sway bars. Pretty common to add a sway bar to a truck without one and if readily available using the larger bar.

Re: Sway bar bushing
The Moog part numbers are on here somewhere for the 1-1/16 and 1-1/8 bars. Be aware there are earlier (bigger) and later (smaller) style brackets for the sway bar bushings. You will need the number when you go to autoparts store.

Re: Sway bar bushing
Sorry but I have another question.
Is the greaseable bushing a worth while upgrade? |

Re: Sway bar bushing
The bushings for a sway bar are either rubber (OEM) or polyurethane. I am not aware of any that are greaseable

Re: Sway bar bushing
The poly bushings from Energy Suspension are greaseable. you grease the clamps on the frame where the bar pivots so they don't squeak at you. Mine are 1 1/16" and I always heard that was the OE small bar. I have never heard of a 7/8" bar but I'm wrong quite frequently.

Re: Sway bar bushing
I just bought a set of those same bushings.
Since only 2 of them are greaseable, do the grease fittings go on the frame mounts or the a-arm mounts? |

Re: Sway bar bushing
I used the silicone grease that came with kit for the control arm bushings, and regular grease that I use for the rest of the chassis. The instructions said to use three pumps at the regular maintenance intervals.

Re: Sway bar bushing
So are the frame bushings and control arm bushings identical? Thanks!
