6l80 questions

Is there any difference between a 2013 and a 2015 6l80?

Found out my trans is a 2013, tuner says the pcm/motor is 2015 and won’t talk to the older trans, is this correct??

Quite possible. The tuner should b able to do a segment change within the tune to make it work.

Re: 6l80 questions

I’m being told that it needs a flash to get the two systems to talk, idk, paid one guy to do it and he leaves to get a “GM” scanner and then calls me with, mine won’t work on your issue....I’m looking for that jerk now...

Check with Brendan at lt1swap.com. He seems to be very knowledgeable.

Definitely do some research at LT1swap, as Goats86 said, have a look at HPTuners forums too. I’m not an expert by any means but the tuner should be able to do a segment swap in HPTuners or just flash the ecu to a 2013 operating system if your engine was also available in 2013. Both are a little more complicated than a “standard tune” and not all tuners may be experienced with the process so be sure to ask your tuner questions.

Re: 6l80 questions

The ECU and tcm need to have matching operating systems. The best way to do this is with gm tis reprogramming service. Hptuners can do a full tcm flash as well but you need the right operating systems. I can help if you haven't resolved the issue yet.
