Thumbs up Re: Does this look right?

Ok drove the ramp truck today and it did fine. It did back fire once but after that it did fine. It was right after I cranked it up for the first time. It cut off and when I went to refire it it back fired. I didn't have anymore problems after that it drove good and the brakes even seemed better. I guess the vacuum leak was hurting the booster effect on them.

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

The missing link COPO Corvette motor! Backfiring through the exhaust when you let off the pedal is an exhaust leak. Whats the block casting number?

No backfiring through exhaust. It popped through the carb but after that it was fine the rest of the day. It could have been me trying to cold start it also. Pumping the gas pedal while cranking it! I drove it all afternoon and cut it off several times and never did it again.

Fixing to go drive it again to the shop to work on pulling the 68 cab off I hope.

Has the OP determined the engine is a 350 ?

As the OP mentions the engine is not original...it may just have the small port 2 barrel manifold bolted on...

Oh, yeah. I remember those now. I think they did it starting in '71? I worked for a dealer in those days. You'd think I'd remember that.

Re: Does this look right?

As others have said 307's of that era did come with just 2 carb studs and nuts.

Re: Does this look right?

I guess with a cast iron base and a vacuum underneath, the carbs just got sucked down onto the gasket! One thing that Chevrolet got bit on the booty with though was putting 2-row radiators in the '71 big cars with the 400 small block. We had a line of them in the service lot with severely overheated engines. All got a retrofit to a higher row count radiator. Ever seen a blue torque converter!? That's some hot stuff, right there.
