Re: K10 Wheels / Tires

265/75 is what you want I would think. The 255/85 option is an inch taller and a bit less rpm on highway, but they might fill the wheelwell up too much. 235 is out of the question on an 8" rim for me personally

Good for you! If you don't mind, about how much did those (5?) cost w/shipping? I suppose the shipping would be a lot more to MT than PA.

Re: K10 Wheels / Tires

I think the Firestone will give you the best ride. Girlfriends Grabber AT2 have held up well on her Duramax. I personally run BFG's, but I don't run my 4X4 much. If I was doing a bit of driving, I would probably get the Firestone or Grabber. Nice Suburban, I will have to keep my out for it in the Miff area.

Re: K10 Wheels / Tires

(4) wheels were $363+tax shipped with a $25 promo at Summit. I also bought the push-through hub covers which added a bit. I’d like to run OEM rally center caps eventually, but need to get wheels and tires on without taking the time to drill, tap, etc. Also gonna keep the red and blue pinstripes since I also don’t want to take the time to scuff and paint. Not ideal, but tires are important at the moment.

Appreciate the thoughts on the Firestone’s ride. Definitely more highway miles than off road, but we do spend a bit of time in the mountains.

Hey, Pottsgrove!! I grew up in Elysburg, now in Mifflinburg right next to the covered bridge and Koons trail. Any chance that ‘72 Cheyenne is light blue and white? Think I recently saw it pulling out near B&L Dodge on Rt 15...

Thanks!

That's a pretty good deal, but don't you need a matching spare ?????

When I looked into new 16" wheels, what I found was $125 each plus unknown shipping. So that was $625++ for five wheels! I had already spent $150 for 5 junkyard wheels that didn't work and I was in a bind with no good spare at that moment because one aluminum wheel had busted. So I just threw up my hands and bought the 4 15" rallies at another junkyard and bought some new 235/75 tires for them. That way I could still use my original spare wheel.

i think thats best plus its a very common size so tires are easy to find. alot newer trucks ran that size.

Re: K10 Wheels / Tires

I had my mind made up to give the Firestones a try... no longer available in LT265/75R16. Ugh. So... we’re gonna give the Grabbers a try. Me, Dad and Spencer are going on Saturday to a friend’s shop to mount, balance and put them on. Spencer is so excited to go to a real garage to work on Daddy’s Suburban he’s losing his mind.

And that’s why I bought this truck.

Good choice!! I think you’ll be pleased. Just pick yourself up a bottle of the bleche-white tire cleaner to keep those white letters white!

Re: K10 Wheels / Tires

Impressed with the tires. The new, U.S.-made Cragars were hell to balance. Feels like a completely different truck. And now feels more truck-like, rather than a big station wagon!

Re: K10 Wheels / Tires

I like it. “Smokey” it is. Though here at home she’s called “Silverado”, because as 4-year-old Spencer says... “His name is right there on the fender, Dad!”
