Yes, removing them without breaking off the plastic stud pins (which are molded as part of the trim) can be tricky. Simply trying to unscrew the speed nuts will usually result in twisting off the pins. Using pliers to grip the protruding end of the pin to prevent it from twisting while using a wrench to remove the nuts will decrease the chance of breaking them.
