which front brake calipers
I installed a ssbc 6 lug disc brake conversion kit # a126-71 on my 67 swb,I have replaced almost every component in the system twice,I have bleed the brakes a hundred times.I finally put a 72 master cylinder which I bleed twice, and a dual diaphragm 8 inch booster from summits on it.It will stop ok but it will not lock up the brakes.every part in the rear brakes is new,It has an adjustable proportioning valve,So I am looking for a set of calipers. The instructions says it takes D-368 brake pads. The center to center bolts on the calipers, look to be 5 3/4 of an inch I just crawled under the truck and did not remove the wheels.any info would be appreciated.this engine has 22 inches of vacuum. Thanks Jeff

Re: which front brake calipers
As far as more standard sizes for calipers I have found 7.00", 5.50", and 5.25, and 3.25 for caliper mount centers.
You might take a look at speedway disc brake brackets for an idea or maybe call your kit supplier. I would expect rears to lockup before front, maybe more rear pressure, maybe too much traction.

Re: which front brake calipers
I take you have disc/drum and not disc/disc. And were referring to the front calipers?

Re: which front brake calipers
1991 Chevrolet C1500 and others -- look on ebay for D-368 brake pads and what they say they are for. Not sure if they are the calipers.
If correct, Rockauto shows many calipers for the c1500 -- looks like metric.

Re: which front brake calipers
This brake conversion says to be the same as a 1991 k 1500 with standard chassis,ok does anyone know where I can find a set of larger calipers, centerline measurement on bolts 5.750 or a disc brake bracket to fit 6 lug stock spindale for a 67 and the aftermarket calipers. Thanks Jeff

Re: which front brake calipers
Your calipers are 1988-91 Chevy/GMC 1500 light duty (not extended cab) 2.5" piston
4301/4302 are common part numbers for the calipers. You can't just change calipers without making at minimum new brackets, essentially you need to re-design an entire kit. Those calipers are plenty adequate for your truck. You have a problem in the hydraulic delivery, AKA master-booster-possibly your plumbing or AIR in system You should be using a 1 1/8" bore master, although a 1" will also work but with too much pedal travel.

Re: which front brake calipers
Ok, I was concerned you might have the big 33" tires, those kill braking power.
