'67 C10 accelerator pedal rod firewall support???

Greetings all, I'm a noob here. Recently got my '67 C10 stepside and I'm in love.

It seems like there are a lot of sources to buy ALMOST any reproduction part you need. However, I've been searching high and low for an accelerator pedal rod firewall support (circled in the attached drawing) to no avail.

Could someone kindly point me toward a possible source for these source for these?

I've looked at Ecklers, LMC, Classic Industries, and various other places after some extensive Google searches. Can't figure out if no one is making them, or if I just haven't hit the right search term.

Thanks for your help.

I don't think anybody makes them. Best bet is to search the parts board on here and look for somebody parting out a truck.

Re: '67 C10 accelerator pedal rod firewall support???

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll check out the parts forum and the other links.

BigMac73, I'm not sure about changing over. It's something I've thought about, but I need to research some more. I think on the later version the whole rod is in the cab and the cable (or carb rod) penetrates the firewall, where on the earlier ones the pedal rod penetrates the firewall and is 1/2 in / 1/2 out. Need to look at that some more. Don't think it would be just a bolt-on swap.

The swap doesn't look to bad actually. Someone on here was making a kit to make it really easy. Its expensive, but Lokar has a kit as well. I considered doing that, but my old school setup still works well.

Re: '67 C10 accelerator pedal rod firewall support???

I converted my '68 C/10 Stepside to an aftermarket/'72 GM set-up. It works great, and I'm happy with the result.
My needs were special: I have a 4-barrel [500 CFM ] Edelbrock carb on an Offy intake on a built 292 L6. The stock linkage was scrapped long ago, and the improvised push-pull bellcrank around a 90* angle to the carb's throttle lever had bad tendencies, like jamming, losing cotter pins, freezing up -- always at the worst times. Also I never got WOT out of my old carb. a 390 CFM Holley.
Since I put the cable on I have had no throttle issues. Maybe the only comment is that at the stoplight, I have to take my foot completely off the gas pedal now, as just light foot pressure causes a 100-200 RPM jump over a 700 RPM idle.

Re: '67 C10 accelerator pedal rod firewall support???

I bought a complete 72 pedal assembly off of a board member on here as well as the conversion kit. If you look in the classifieds section, hes still making and selling the kits. They are very nice and easy to do. The only other thing you will need is a throttle cable. Or if you just want to stick with the rod assembly, go through the classifieds on here and there is always someone parting out trucks in there.

Thumbs up Re: '67 C10 accelerator pedal rod firewall support???

I just took my 68 pedal assembly out and put my old 71 assembly in it. I used the lower original mounting hole as a good spot and drilled the other two holes. Went to O-Riellys and bought the Mr Gasket generic throttle cable setup. Had to drill a new hole for the cable but so far it seems like it will work just fine.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Where did you get that pretty brake booster? Most tenants and stuff I see are painted black.

When I want original parts I post a want-to-buy ad in the parts section of the forum. Usually somebody responds fairly soon, and offers to sell and ship me the part for a reasonable price, and the hunt is over. I also occasionally post for-sale ads for stuff I want to sell. Have you checked the parts section of the forum to see if anybody has one for sale, or if anybody has a truck they are parting out? Members who have a premium subscription can post for-sale or want-to-buy ads. I recommend subscribing and posting your want.

No clue of prior years, but MY '67-'68 pedals pivot on a pair of stud-ball ends that are screwed into the floor.
