You just never know with these trucks what may have been changed. The thickness of the spud after the C clip is very important that it is the correct thickness. That is what seats the C clip into the spider gear when the cross pin is installed. To thick and the pin will not go in, to thin and the C clip can come out. Your old axle looks like a 17 spline 12 bolt not an Eaton. That may be why the replacement does not look correct it may be for an Eaton.
