Center Cap options for Rally wheels
Hello,
I have a 1966C10 with disc brakes with Chevy Rally wheels. I bought the rally wheel clips that were sold on eBay. What are my center cap options? I have the following set, which I believe are called Disc Brake Centers, but they do not fit due to the hub on the front rotor: https://shop.wheelacc.com/vintage-ra...14s-p6346.aspx Do the Police caps work? I know the Sombrero work, but not sure I want to go that route. Thank you. Tom Jenkins |

Re: Center Cap options for Rally wheels
I have the Police caps on my rally wheels and they fit but my wheels might be different than yours. I know that is a rear wheel photo but the fronts are the same.

Re: Center Cap options for Rally wheels
Wheel Vintiques used to sell earlier Chevy caps that would retro-fit onto the 'corvette ralley' styled wheels. I think/recall '36, '49 & '52 caps were available (that fit like the derby caps) but you would have to verify to be sure. I purchased some that have been sitting in a box on a shelf for several (several ) years.

This is the wheel I am running. The wheel to end of dust cap is around 2 5/8".
Thank you. Tom |

You need to know the distance from the end of the spindle cap/seal to the center of the clip since that's where the caps will seat.

Re: Center Cap options for Rally wheels
Here is the best photo I can find. The red arrows are pointing at the nubs that keep the caps in place. You can see that they are much further out than your clips. I think that the disk brake caps don't fit for the same reason.

Re: Center Cap options for Rally wheels
Yes. I'll grab the caps off the shelf & see what the depth is.

Re: Center Cap options for Rally wheels
One set was about 2" (#1004). The 2nd was deeper (#1017 @ 2.25 - 2.5/2.675").
I tried both of these cap styles w/those same SS clips you're using. This was on truck/van ralleys that were on my 90 & there was no interference. But, a 90 possibly has a different spindle hub/rotor height so earlier trucks could be taller which would yield less clearance. Look through Wheel Vintiques catalog 'accessories' section for cap options.

Re: Center Cap options for Rally wheels
I don’t mean to be negative but I don’t think you are going to find a police style cap that will work with that wheel.
