Made a custom tool for or silverado t case
My encoder motor whent bad on me at work. I was stuck in 4 low. Home is 50 miles away. So during lunch brake I took the motor off so see what I could do. O'rileys wanted $350 for one. A guy just couldn't swing that right now so I needed a way to shift it manually with out damaging the splines on the t case. So I took the motor apart and got the peace that goes to the t case out. It has a gear on it. The gear broke in half when trying to press it out. Any way now I have a perfect fit for the splines. But no good way to grab it. So I found an old garbage socket from work and welded the socket to the female splins . Not only did it work perfectly I can use it again to aline the new motor when I get. Dont judge my welds I was welding blind.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. The welds do the job. It works and you made it.
I've made some pretty ugly but darn useful tools over the years. I have a narrow drawer in my tool chest full of shop made tools that I won't part with.
