I just noticed that SCOTI has the Front Right and Left opposite of the pic I posted.

How my prop valve is tagged is how they were plumbed in the truck. The proportioning is equal between L & R; just F & R is different so the fronts are actually interchangeable.

Looking at Parts Stores, it looks like combination valves aren't necessarily vehicle specific?

I thought that you only need a propportioning valve, if you are useing disk brakes, my 64 C 30 panel has standerd brakes, please advise if i am wrong, Iwant to change to a duel master cylinder.

You are correct.
If you have four drums then you only need a "distribution block" and to tie into the rear system. The proportioning will take place via the wheel cylinder sizes. K

This is nice information guys. I am in the process of "re-doing" a 1986 2wd (in the build section) and I am wondering as to why the proportioning valve is located on the brace in front of the motor? I would like to know if the valve can be relocated somewhere else?? I was thinking of replacing my booster and master with a later (mid '90's version) and placing the prop. valve next to the master with the lines relocated correctly. what do you guys think??

i was hoping that you might return a chime in... !! I figured that it could be relocated, I had done the same on my '72. When I saw the location of it I was like.... ?? it seems like that is a weird spot? especially if it needs to be serviced or replaced. Now I just need to see how I will run my lines to the new location... Hmmmmm? thanks for the reply... I feel honored to have a response from you... very similar to getting a response from ken (N2TRUX)... !! |

Reviving this thread and hoping to find an answer.
I just converted my 77 to hydro boost, with a new master cylinder and adjustable proportioning valve, which is mounted just beside the master cylinder. My question is - can I just remove the old proportioning valve and tee the front lines together, and coupling the rears together since I'm using a new proportioning valve now?
