Re: 516 orange question for experts
Yes, many names - it's been available in one form or another since somewhere around 1936.

Re: 516 orange question for experts
That’s because Hugger and Tangier are two different colors. Hugger is a bit more subtle red hue compared to Tangier. Both are awesome orange colors.

Re: 516 orange question for experts
best view, what Tyler mentioned is spot on. The "orange" in the 553 Conventional Two Tone combo is 524 Hugger Orange (or Red-Orange). Tangier Orange (516) was not available in 1970 as a regular production option.
In 67-72 light duty trucks, RPO 516 was available every year except 70 and RPO 524 (Hugger Orange or Red Orange) was only available 70-72. |

Re: 516 orange question for experts
I'd love to see a Chevy truck from that era painted orange!

Re: 516 orange question for experts
Love the Orange and reds.
516 Orange (Omaha Orange sounds a lot cooler : ) on this K1500 GMC shorty. Needs some love but she's fun to look at. |

Re: 516 orange question for experts
Nice options on a Fremont truck.
My '68 Stepside was a fleet truck, no frills, but the original buyer specified an L6 292 and 4-speed SM465. Everything is manual and Standard trim. Good luck.

Re: 516 orange question for experts
Can't beat a 292. Love em! Same set up in my Fremont 69 no frills step. Was just in the garage today getting ready to do some degreasing.

Re: 516 orange question for experts
Thank you for this great paint code info, someday I will get that (looks like cheap rattle can spray in bed-liner) paint saver off the truck.
