Re: alternater bracket
Stock in what donor chassis? I'm thinking that some of them put the alternator and maybe other accessories too far out to the side and too low.

Re: alternater bracket
No one here can answer that question. GM had a different alternator and PS bracket for every model the 5.3 went in. High mount, low mount, left or right... Why don't you just bolt your brackets on and see what happens? Alternative is to make your own, very easy to do.

Re: alternater bracket
The crossmember isn't going to be an issue, Clearance with the inner fenders and space between the block and the radiator are going to be the issues. That is with just about any engine except a 216 or 235 with the 54 waterpump setup on it though.

Re: alternater bracket
There are a lot of variables like the height and set back of your engine. Generally the Camaro or Corvette set ups allow the most clearance for your radiator/ fan to fit. You can also use a Holley set up like this http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...605484&page=45
I have an '04 GTO engine in my 51, it sits low so I had to relocate the alternator. It's also as tight as it can be against the firewall, so I barely have room for a fan.
