Re: Installing Fender Emblems
Just wanted to update this thread. I was linked here by Lockdoc from a thread I started and the exact clips shown above also worked perfect for mounting my C10 emblems on my 70, and my local Napa had them on the display carousel, so they didn't even have to be ordered.

Re: Installing Fender Emblems
I used barrel clips last summer for the fender emblems. Got them from Amazon

Re: Installing Fender Emblems
Barrel clips were used from the factory on the Cheyenne super glovebox emblems and the upper tailgate moulding center piece. I’ve also seen some custom camper door emblems that have them instead of the speed nuts. They do work very well.

Re: Installing Fender Emblems
I know this is an old thread, but it comes up nicely in a web search. I attached mine a little differently. Since my inner fenders are out, but my fenders are not off, I used a barrel clip on the rearward hole, and a speednut on the forward end. The emblems on another truck with the upper molding like this one has, were 3 6/16" from the rear fender edge, and 11 1/8" down from the top fender edge, that measurement being right through the center of the "M", to the lower, outward edge of the emblem. It's hard to find info on the GMC, so I will keep adding what I can as I go along with this one.

Re: Installing Fender Emblems
Cool as heck Leon. I know the clips are a 10-24 thread, and of course badges are a tapered stud. I haven't bought the barrel nuts yet, but would like to ask how they work. I take it they compress on either stud type, and part's are removed by squeezing the tabs on the back, right?
I suppose they're too long for the front lower door molding clip, due to clearance of the door hinge? I came to the realization the studs on door trim clips are supposed to be cut. At the very least the lower front clip, because if you don't you'll soon wish you did. Otherwise those barrel nuts are cool in a pinch.

Yes there are two small tabs on the back that you have to squeeze in to get them back out. I don't know how they would work on the molding. LockDoc

Here ia my question when installing aftermarket fender what do you use as a template and guide for drilling new holes for the emblems

I always measure the old fender for the hole location or the fender on the other side of the truck. I'm sure if you post what year your truck is and a picture of the emblem you are installing someone can supply the measurements for you.... LockDoc

Re: Installing Fender Emblems
I was thinking about these barrel nuts and wondering if I could get my "Super" badges on before taking my fender's off for another task. Though the problem is getting the holes drilled properly under the "Cheyenne / 10" emblem.
Might anyone know where the holes would be from measuring from the "Cheyenne / 10" emblem? I am thinking not and if I wanted to do this then I should cut the stubs off and go the "3M" route - which I don't think I want to do. Anyways, I thought I'd ask. Edit: 3M really not a option, the back of the Super is hollow except where the studs are. I didn't want to cut them anyways lol

I don't have any Cheyenne trucks or fenders any more. The fact that the back of the emblem is hollow is the main reason I didn't want to use the tape. LockDoc

Re: Installing Fender Emblems
Thanks for the thought Doc, drilling from the mounted Cheyenne badge is likely very dodgy anyways ;-)
