Re: 67 SWB Steering question
I first tried a CPP tilt column, but didn't like it. I wound up getting a rebuilt GM tilt column from Les (70shortfleet). Les does good work and it was worth the money. Ah, memories of modifying my '67 frame rail with a few well-placed swings of a 20lb sledge to fit the p/s steering box...good times.
For my steering gear box I went with a reman Lares 1075 with the later 3-1/4 turn ratio, but it seems a little sloppy. Swapping out the OEM 17" steering wheel to a 15" comfort grip really helped at higher speeds on the interstate. In the future I plan to upgrade to a Borgeson 800132 gear and maybe their rag joint eliminator (033152). https://www.borgeson.com/Borgeson-St...7-1-Ratio.html
