I am assuming you do not have tilt. If you are thinking of best value for your dollar I would invest in it. They are a little expensive but really cool in one of these old trucks. As a bonus, you can get them shortened.

Thank you all for the responses, helpful. I have a line on a Cheyenne seat ( which is a vinyl covered foam and not a the glued cover to the foam, which can make the reupholstery process a little better . I will try it out, anything to get a little bit more comfort and even and inch of room will help. I'm almost thinking of cutting down the brake and clutch pedals to reposition the pads in a better position.
dagnabbitt, the first thing i did when i aquired the truck was put a tilt in it. made a world of difference, its stock length thought..
