Question Pass. Upper shock bolt hole

Hi, I have 1986 C10 swb. I am trying to find the dims. to locate the pass. side upper shock bolt hole location (in frame)? I need to check/redrill the shock hole location from a frame repair. I am not sure if there is a factory assy. manual for it (similar to the 67-72 trucks)? any info. would be appreciated

thanks!

Re: Pass. Upper shock bolt hole

I looked at a bunch of frame drawings, none show shock location
Could you not measure drivers side and mirror it to pass side?

Re: Pass. Upper shock bolt hole

Should be a dimple in the frame, I'd find the center of it and drill and watch out for the brake line behind it

Mongo, thanks for the reply. I believe that is what I did when I originally did the frame repair, but the shock is at a sharper angle than the drivers & appears to "push" up the pass side about 1/2" the rear is higher on pass side. the shocks are reversed on the axle housing.... ddooohhh!!

KWMECH, thanks for the reply. I had to do a repair in the area - the OG hole was "torn" and the shock was moving front to back. you can see the problem in my build thread. I THINK my issue is the switched positions on the axle housing???

Re: Pass. Upper shock bolt hole

Here it is KW
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=794677&page=5

I thought you were referring to the front..
If the shock is installed on drivers side, measure the installed shock length from bolt center to bolt center..

Then measure how far from top or bottom of frame rail to frameside stud..
Transfer this measurement to pass frame rail in the general area of your patch

Then measure the pass side from axle end shock mount to the frame repair area using the installed shock measurement

You should be able to visualize where the hole needs to be where all these lines intersect..
It wont matter if your measurement is off a little

Re: Pass. Upper shock bolt hole

mongo, thanks for the link info & THANK YOU for the replies. I will try your suggestions this weekend. your 1st picks helps. I believe that I might have drilled to "low" making the shock sit "higher" on the pass side... not sure though. hopefully you didn't laugh too much while looking thru my build. I need to add some things as the truck is emissioned & driving now.
