The partsbooks indicate 1968 was the first year of the Dana Spicer lockout hubs that were used until model year 1980. I have also proven this with an excerpt from the 1968 factory service manual showcasing them, as well as several original 1968 trucks equipped with them. The cutoff from red knobs to blue knobs on the half tons/Blazers seems to be in the early March, 1970 timeframe. Red knobs on the 3/4 tons continued into the early 1971 model year, before being switched to blue. The four wheel drive emblem used from 1968-70 was always located under the front marker lamp, and the engine callout emblem was located under the model emblem on the rearward of the front fender.
