StingRay, regarding that last part of your above quoted info in bold, could it be possible that you are thinking of a later model year or application of steering column? As an fyi, all 1967-72 C/K model four speed manual non-tilt steering columns used the same p/n 3902569 pot metal extension (bell/bowl) housing with no shift lever, see below pics from our old saved folder archives.
