Re: 1954 3100 ignition/key bezel question
If you need to drive that truck now and don't have a switch a jumper wire between the stud that the battery cable attaches to and the plus post of the coil will get power to the coil and allow the truck to run and drive aka hot wired and a thief was pretty stupid if they didn't know that. A couple feet of wire and a pair of alligator clips makes a fancy one. If it is stomp pedal start you just connect that wire and get inside and start the truck.
If you want to get a bit fancier you can take the hot wire and the ign wire off the switch and connect them with a toggle switch so you can switch the ignition off and on inside the cab. Hide that toggle switch within easy reach under the dash and a passenger might not know that you don't have a key in the switch to be able to have it run. I ran my 48 for a year with a toggle switch and push button under the dash and my buddy rode in it a number of times before he noticed that I didn't have a key in the switch. It had a later six with key start though. I would just stick my fingers under the dash next to the ignition switch flip the toggle switch and hit the pushbutton and most riding with me never noticed what I was doing.
