That reminds me of one time the kid ran over a steel pipe and bent the crankshaft and blade on a push mower we had. I figured the crankshaft was ruined anyway so I turned the mower up on it's side and wailed away on it with a good sized hammer. I fully expected to snap the shaft off at the block but surprisingly I didn't. I actually got it fairly straight though it did vibrate a lot. And I didn't ruin the seal. We used it until the deck rotted away.

I ain't passing up that opportunity.

That had to have been a LOOOONG time ago. The engines on mowers now are not nearly that strong. Several years ago, I bought a new Sears push mower for the M-I-L and the boy she had running it hit a rather small rock in her yard and it threw the blade out from under and quit running. The aluminum blade to shaft mount had broken, so I got a new one and put the blade back on and tried to start it. It had no compression. I pulled the spark plug and the piston was on top dead and didn't move when I pulled the rope. I removed the head and the chinesium connecting rod had also snapped off from the shock.

Hey wait a minute, this neighbor doesn't mess around!
I'm a night person but I got up early because I was thinking this guy might have other things to do today.
Got up to the garage and this beauty was already set up and ready to go!
Wheeled it into the garage so I could go back to sleep and not worry about it disappearing.

Pretty cool neighbor.

The shop will be 30x50 . I am going an extra 5 feet on all sides for a nice firm curtain . Most likely add a lean to later on anyway

Went for a convertible ride today right after lunch. About 1-1 1/2" hours just before a big thunder storm moved in. It's all good we needed the rain.

Last load today so far it’s at 224+ tons . Need to level it to the orange mark on the story pole . Had to raise the building as the water table is too high to dig down.

Wow, That's a long ways up..... Do you have to roll it to pack it down?

Ya it’s about 40 inches . I had to do it this way because the water table is so high . I would have had moisture problems if we dug the high side down . I would have had to build a retaining wall too . Already have a rather large swale trench and it runs 24/7 just with ground water.

Packing it down with a large tracked excavator on Monday or Tuesday . Skid steer broke down , mice eat the wiring harness and some other sensitive things so far the estimate is 6k in repairs my friend may just trade it in on a new one so we had to use a mid sized excavator to spread most of it . The big excavator was at another job he’s doing .

I was going to ask if you could have dug down around the perimeter and put in drain tile. That's what I did with my house and I have never had any water in my basement. 3" perforated pipe with 4ft of 3/4" washed concrete stone on top of it. It drains out to the road ditch.

My water comes from a spring about 100 yards up the hill . Right now it’s a geyser water everywhere the spring house is overflowing and I have water coming up in my driveway 24/7 from underground springs . I know when the drill the post holes they are going to hit water anyway . So it’s going to be interesting

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

When I had my shop built I had all the ground work done in the fall and per the contractor it would be best if I let ground settle till next spring. Did that and not a single crack in the concrete. Been close to 20 years.

Not much of the ground was disturbed we only took off the top soil . The building is a pole barn and I won’t be pouring the floor for some time .

I remember those days, cannot believe been 6 years since I built
mine, and still not finished inside like I wanted. So many budget
killer issues we did not plan for. Your going to love having that...

Borrowed two of my neighbors triplets to help put the bed on the Dodge. Was real easy with 5 people . Color is a bit off but I’m not painting it .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Last night was our 50th high school class reunion. 300 plus in our class. Had about 100 classmates show up along with their spouses. It was a fun gathering. Food was less than great. Some folks we haven't seen since 1975.
They put together a picture video? of all the kids that have passed away prior to last night. Almost 40 gone.
It was fun but a bit sad.

.

1/3rd of your class showing up at the 50th is remarkable!

Your graduating class was 3 times the size of mine!
