Black Screws for headlight bezels?

Hi guys, I have black painted headlight bezels on the front of my '69.

The thing currently has silver (steel) screws. I don't know what size they are but hoping someone can steer me to a set of black screws that won't stand out against the black bezel. Prefer to order online than to go hunting at the hardware store.

Thank you

Is Home Depot a hardware or lumber store?
Either way they’ve got lots of them.

Re: Black Screws for headlight bezels?

If they're the same size as those for a 1971-72 bezel, then they're #1 phillips countersunk oval head tap screws. The screw threads are #8 x 1/2", course thread.

Soak them in vinegar and black oxide them.

Exactly. Mixed with water IMO, perhaps 70%-ish vinegar to remove the finish. Only as long as they need, seems 6-8 hours, definitely less than a day, too long you'll be sorry, they're tiny. Rinse, then baking soda bath.

The offensive Dremel brass brushes clean stuff up nicely. You learn to dislike those and the stainless before 1k pieces; guess I should have bought a tumbler.

Re: Black Screws for headlight bezels?

Solution i use for this is stick the screws in a piece of cardboard and paint black. SEM trim black dries fast, is durable and easily touched up. Done in a few minutes with no hassle.

I would agree, but its never just one set of screws you need. Hardware store trips get expensive after awhile, but pick / pull and refinish save a lot of hassle.

This would be great if the OP was looking for instrument bezel screws. The title of the thread says headlight bezels...
