You are thinking of the GMT 400 models.

The squarebody cab chassis continued until 1991 (as did the Blazer and Suburban) designated as the R/V truck, during the switch over.

So - yes - The frames were the same in 88–91 as they were 73–87, so the same hitch should fit.
