Frame Differences - Cab and Chassis R30

I recently acquired a 1988 R30 cab and chassis, and I need a Class V hitch for it. Does anyone know if the frame dimensions for the 88-91 cab and chassis trucks were the same as the 73-87?
Etrailer advertises this hitch as fitting a 1986 C30 cab and chassis, and I think it should fit my truck.

So what did you learn? I have the same situation with a recently acquired 1988 R30

Really old post, but OP was last on in June. So maybe a response. I would think they are not the same. Sheet metal is totally different on the 88+ trucks. Front frame is boxed and rear is probably different as well. As to if posted hitch would work?

You are thinking of the GMT 400 models.

The squarebody cab chassis continued until 1991 (as did the Blazer and Suburban) designated as the R/V truck, during the switch over.

So - yes - The frames were the same in 88–91 as they were 73–87, so the same hitch should fit.

Have a GMT400 based MY 2000 2500 myself. Do not doubt you. Knew about the subs and blazers in 88-91. My close friend has an 89 sub which is square body. Saw some chassis/cab 88-91 on the web that seemed to have the GMT400 metal. Why is that?

Can't say. I don't know what you were looking at.

But I can say you've reminded my we did a similar rollout for the GMT800 versions.

We did light duty trucks for 1999, SUVs in 2000 and HD trucks in 2001.

We didn't do the RV nomenclature for those (I suspect somebody learned their lesson). We differentiated them by using the model codes.

I’ve had a few late square body 1 ton 4x4 cab and chassis trucks(89-91) that I’ve parted that had a similar grill/headlight setup to the early GMT400 trucks, maybe that’s what you were seeing?

Looks like GMT400 sheet metal to me, It does have the work truck grill. Same as the GMT400 based 2000 I have.

Edit- Yes I see the square body 88-91 1 ton dually's. But they are complete pickup trucks with dually beds. When I find a chassis/cab with or without a box, flatbed etc it seemed to be the newer metal.
