Re: My 64 Project
Sweet! I'm a fan of slot mags, but the wide whites are a good look too
On the pictures, you can either rotate them on your computer, or if you're uploading directly from your phone, just make sure you have your phone oriented the same way you took the first pics in your last two posts. On my phone, I have to turn the phone sideways with the top pointed left and the bottom pointed right

Re: My 64 Project
Finaly got to pull this old girl out and see the full side profile. Gotta say, I'm very happy with how it all came together and turned out! Several more things that I need to get squared away/buttoned up, but being able to see it out in the sun is hugely motivating.

Re: My 64 Project
Little bit of an update on this old girl. Slowly shes getting buttoned back together. Got her over to 456 Chevy and had them put all new rubber and weather seals, as well as a new windshield. Also got the seat redone and reinstalled. Strongly considering lowering brackets for that. Tailgate is on, fits like poo, but I dont think I'll be opening and closing it a ton, so oh well. I did manage to score a pig nose hood that may or may not wind up on this truck in the future. Still debating on fixing it and using it on this truck, or leaving it be and throwing it onto my orange truck...

Re: My 64 Project
More updates! Got the truck together enough to have it in my wedding! Got some great family photos with it that I'll try not to bore you all with. I also scored another pig nose hood, which I decided to paint and modify for the truck. Redid the entire clutch/flywheel setup due to having engagement issues, and figured I'd add a mondo shifter while it was apart because I was getting tired of having to lean down every time I changed gears.

Re: My 64 Project
I also was able to make it out to a couple shows last fall and had a blast finally driving it. Added a few more little touches, and now that it's winter I've begun work on a bed floor for it so that I can stop pelting the back of the cab with rocks when I'm rolling down the highway.

Re: My 64 Project
Thanks guys! It's definitely been a journey getting it this far.
Thanks! They're 235/70/15s all around. Front rubs a bit on hard corners and dips, but otherwise they work pretty well.

Re: My 64 Project
I really need to get better about updating this thread. Quick catch up: got the bed all squared away and finished up. Also redid the fuel filler to work out of an old jerry can that I've had laying around forever and a day. Finally getting to put miles on this old girl and I love it!

Re: My 64 Project
On the subject of threads in dire need of update. I'll have to come back on my phone with more recent pictures, but the LS is no more! I got tired of constantly fighting stupid issues with wiring, fuel, tune, and overall drivability. The 4.8 came out and got sold off. In its place, I built a 283 that I found on marketplace for $30. Because the truck is already rocking an old school hotrod/kustom theme, a vintage 50s tripower setup was the only logical means of induction. I also swapped the eternally problematic t56 with a new Magnum unit to ensure no more problems. Im still working out a few bugs (tuning 3 Strombergs is a STEEP learning curve) but driveability is infinitely better from the get go. Truck is also way more fun to drive and turns a lot more heads now.

Re: My 64 Project
With the ls I had some issues with rubbing in the front. Knowing that a small block is going to add a few hundred pounds, and also with the express idea of one day going air ride, decided to build some front tubs. Used Amazon trailer fenders for the materials and dont think they turned out half bad.

Re: My 64 Project
Last winter I was able to get the old Ls pulled, and the new 283 installed. While the engine was out, I was able to do some repairs on the firewall, as well as finally get it painted to match the rest of the truck.

Re: My 64 Project
Interesting update. Weird the LS drivetrain was so problematic but there's nothing wrong w/a good ol' sbc..... especially w/a manual gearbox behind it.
Now, the hydraulics for a late model gearbox can have some 'retro/swap' gremlins so hoping that's not your scenario.
