Anyone have 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Rally Wheels on?

I have 15x8 but hear they wont fit the front due my 10c's 2.5" front spindle drop. Without modifications anyway, which I'm not doing. I collected some parts along the way and would like the Rally option.

A nice matching set of 15x7 are hard to come by, but two more easily achievable, so I wonder how it would look??

At the moment the truck sits level, not sure if I'd want to get tires to maintain that or perhaps a little lift in back, hmm.

Re: Anyone have 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Rally Wheels on?

I have a set of Corvette rally's (unsure what brand they are) on my truck that are 15x7 front and 15x8 on the rear. I'm using Cooper tires 235/70-15 on the front and 255/60-15 on the rear. I also have drop spindles - lowered 3.5" in front and 5" in back.

15x7 with 255/60. 15x8 with 275/60.

It's not the best picture with the front tire in a dip in the driveway.

Re: Anyone have 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Rally Wheels on?

Member/Moderator leddzepp built a truck that looked a lot like yours and ran staggered 15x7 and 15x8 truck rallies on it. His build thread used to be on here but I can't seem to locate it.

Here's a couple pic of his truck I found on the forum. He was running a 5 and 7 drop. Not sure if he had to modify his A-arms or anything to make it work though. Maybe he'll chime in.

Re: Anyone have 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Rally Wheels on?

I don't have the rear axles changed yet but these are 15x7 Corvette style rallys from Speedway Motors with 235/60/15 tires. I have 2" ECE front springs and 2.5" dropped spindles. I went with the 7" wheels on front because I thought the 8" stuck out too far. Just my preference. The rear is getting 8" 255/60.

Exactly I've heard the lower control arms are too close, possibly a ball joint issue too? I've also heard 8" wheels work with drops; how can both be true? Probably rhetorical.

Thank you for images above. Nice trucks, and wow your set-up looks SHARP EagleChief, You had to have been "pleasantly surprised" when those were installed.

FWW some images of my clearance, 2.5" drop with 6" OEM wheels - 235-75-15 tires are a little fatter than original.

Re: Anyone have 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Rally Wheels on?

I'd bet that the folks have had issues with the rim or the balancing weights hitting the tie rod. I've run into that on S10's and my GTO with dropped spindles and 15 inch rally wheels.

A different backspacing of the wheel or a 1/4 -3/8" spacer will usually solve the interference problem.

Re: Anyone have 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Rally Wheels on?

I’m basically building around a 15x8 front rally like thousands before me.

Hell, lots of people running 15x10 fronts even.

Your truck looks great btw.
Also you may be surprised how heavy the rally wheels are, I was, but I like the look.

Like four anvils. I was also taken back the first time I picked one up.

Re: Anyone have 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Rally Wheels on?

I keep seeing this one & the reply's with no mentions of WHY some people have issues with a certain wheel size while others don't. Nine times out of ten the interference issue is caused by the back-spacing of the particular wheel.

Width & backspace need to be stated in discussions about wheel/tire fitment. This will help others better understand why some combo's work where others had issues.

I have 15x8 with 275/60-15 tires all around. No fitment problems. I have lowering springs. I converted to 5-lugs when I lowered it.

Thanks! I appreciate it! When I bought the truck it had some wheels from an early 2000's truck on it. I don't even remember the size, now. I bought the rally's off of my old boss for $100, then had our shop sand blast and paint them. Once they were mounted on the truck, it completely changed the way it looked. Then once the new suspension went on and the height was lowered, I knew that was where it was supposed to be.

Good point.....This should clear some things up. Incidentally, does anyone know the back space on an OEM 6x15 steel wheel?

Check out this guy’s spindle drop with 8x15 Rallys. I nearly made the same mistake, almost pulled the trigger on having my 8x15 refinished. Geezuz, by the time I bought tires too only to find.... https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=677631

Same thread says the backspace on a 7x15 rally wheel is 3.5/8

This thread says the 8/15 rally wheel has a 4” back space.

Write-up on Rally Wheels. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=462895

Says 4.25” backspace on a 8x15 Rally Wheel. He speaks of a lip, not sure what that means. I measured mine which was slightly less/more, maybe I’ll see if I can find the thread or measure again (Edit is last paragraph). I'm 80/20 sure you’re supposed to measure from below what he may be calling a lip, but I suspect he means outer aesthetics.

Like another source he says the back space on a 7x15 Rally Wheel is 3.5/8.
_____________________________________________________________

EDIT: I found some of my notes. I measure dead nuts 4.3/8 (4.375) backspace on my 8x15 rally wheels. So you got three choices, one guy says 4", another 4.25" and mine 4.3/8" I suppose it's possible some variances in Rally Wheels. Something tells me no......... An image for back space.

Like another source he says the back space on a 7x15 Rally Wheel is 3.5/8. In a nutshell the 8x15 Rally has .60ish more back space than the 7x15.

Sorry, it's hard to see, but I measured below that "ring" for lack of better term. In other words. it's measured from the flat surface because that's what contacts the hub's flat surface. The other guy's example is from the ring, which inserts into the hub.
I don't recall there being an area on the hub or rotor surface that is recessed for the 'ring' (?).

Beyond the hub might be better term.
