Re: My new project 86 Silverado
thanks guys for the welder input, i'll keep my eye for a good deal somewhere
sent some more cash to my engine builder, about 50% paid up so far for my Pontiac 461. i'd like to get an aluminum radiator, something that fits in the stock location(any suggestions)? still deciding what gauges i want. truck came with factory a/c, but i'm not putting it back in, whats the best solution to delete the a/c? i'll do a search around, if anyone has opinions, they're appreciated updates/pics soon

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Are you going to run a heater or wanting to do away with all of it? http://www.acdelete.com/pages/73-90_Truck.htm makes a delete kit that still allows you to run a fan for the heater. Or I believe that http://www.vintageair.com/2013catalo...ebpgs%2036.pdf might offer block off plates for the wholes in the firewall. There was a thread in the general 73-87 forum here that showed where someone had blocked theirs off. Maybe it was Greenlee's 4x4 build thread now that I think about it. I will have to look.

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Don't know what your price range is, but I do all of my work with my Hobart 210mvp. I used it daily in a body shop as well as welding on my frame. It's pretty flexible.

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
I don't even try to use my DA with my compressor. I use an electric one at the house...

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
i got my combination valve, and the rest of the stainless brake lines all clamped in to the frame etc. will be getting braided hoses for the front in the next few days...
trying to get the under dash stuff all done... cleaned up the brake pedal and assembly... painted it with flat black rattle can, will post pics tomorrow... cleaned the fuel tank mounts, was going to paint them too, but it turned cold here in the mountains, so i'll wait on that. going to tear down the steering column, and check it all over, and replace turn signal switch etc. more updates and pics the next couple o' days

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
How did the brake line that runs from the distribution block up front to the rear fit? They were Inline Tube right? I bought mine from Summit (Right Stuff Detailing) and they did not fit as good as I would have liked. They needed to be longer to look and fit like the factory lines.

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Thanks. I was curious. Everyone says Inline Tube so I wondered just how good they were. They sound like they fit just about like the ones I got from Right stuff.

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
i block sanded the epoxy primer on the cab the other day, did it with 80 grit to scuff it up good, then used 180 on it.
shot a shoddy coat of 2K primer on it... cheap gun I have isn't spraying wet enough, so i'm gonna get another one and re-prime the 2K... pic updates after i re-sand/shoot the primer
