I put mine in up top at 5.5''.....I would suggest 5'' min on the 8.5'' wide rim. The 10'' your on your own. I would spend some serious time with a tape measure.

Great tool, and it would be money well spent if your pushing the limits with diameters and backspacing issues.

I wonder if one of the local tire shops has one of those I can borrow. Maybe I'll buy it and resell it on ebay. After shipping it's probably 100 bucks and I'll use it once. I guess that's better than buying an expensive set of custom rims that don't fit and not being able to exchange them. I've been on that tape measure for a while and I'm thinking a 5" back space in the front will work. In the back the mounting flange is dead in the center of the wheel tub. I think a 5" bs would work back there too. I can make more room in the back if necessary. There's a 1 1/2" lip on the inside of the bed and 1/2" of wood that can be cut out to the inside of the tire. I'll measure once more and take a stab at it.
