Re: After many years finally getting going

One thing after another got in the way of my build the past 5 months.
One was my 64 Dodge daily driver needed attention.
And a little medical issue that put me out of commission.
I'm back.
Got the bed off,the Chevy ready to prep for paint.
Working on the engine, but need carb help. See my other
thread titled "QadraJet missing something"
in the engine section of the forum.
When the engine and mechanics are up and running then comes the
body paint, upholstery,etc etc.
Got the new Cooper tires on order painting rims now.

I joined this board back 2004 when I bought the C10. Drove it for about six months, then engine got noisy so decided to tear into it.
Well you know what happened then...........new engine rebuild trans , oh just pull it apart I said to myself and I did, and on and on and on.
Needing something to drive after my old Astro van quit, sold it then the Dodge popped up.I looked for an older Chev or GMC but none to be had that was a runner at the price I wanted.
While looking on Craigslist the Dodge showed it's faceand at a very good price and all it needed was cosmetic stuff so:
Painted body ,new brakes, seat, new glass weather seals, tires.
Engine and running gear was usable so just freshened it up about 4 years ago.
Now I'm back to the Chevy.

Re: After many years finally getting going

There are many blue trucks. Some with white accent roof and grill face.
Mine was light blue with silver color below the chrome side trim and also
the grill face.
I was thinking it may have been done by the PO, until I started sanding the rims, sure enough there was the silver under the black rim.
I just found these two pictures from the web not mine.
There was a blue/silver that could have been factory but I prefer the blue/white only add a white face.
And maybe no white under side trim.
What do you think should I keep it as original or no ?

Re: After many years finally getting going

I think either combination is nice, but the blue and silver is something that's not seen often and kinda cool in a modern sort of way....the blue and white is timeless so you can't go wrong that way either

Re: After many years finally getting going

I really like the blue and silver combo. The silver goes nicely with the trim and makes for a smoother transition thru the trim and into the blue than does the white, IMO.

Re: After many years finally getting going

I was considering the silver, but have
decided to go White. Painted the wheels and will
do the top and face along with lettering
on tailgate.
Carlsbad area is my old camping grounds when I was
raising my kids.

Re: After many years finally getting going

It is slow going, but going forward none the less
Painted the cab two tone from the solid dark blue and I like it much better now.
Engine now complete, Lucas break-in oil ready to pressurize before firing.
Only thing needed is to change the power wire, the pink one
coming out of the cowl molding. I think it might be the point type
resistance wire, now that there is an HEI wont work.
After cam break in and initial oil change and then come the fenders doors hood etc.
More to come................

Re: After many years finally getting going

Another year has gone and a little closer to get it done. All the mechanics are good. Then comes the bed.
In addition to this the bumper is on and hood is near finished.
