And yeah I'd advise figuring out which clip you want before starting in on it, but hey if you do a lot of work on the clip and later change your mind, you could sell and have enough money to buy a different clip in real good condition. |

Re: 67 vs 69 war time
I swapped my 72 clip for a 68. It was a very tough decision because I love the taller 69-72 hoods, but I like the 67-68 grill just a little more.

Re: 67 vs 69 war time
I have had a '67 4 eye, a '69 4 eye and currently have a '69 Chevy...
By far my favorite is a '67 GMC (small window), but I really like the clean lines of the '68 Chevy. I am currently looking to buy a '67 cab to convert my '69 over to a '67/'68 look with a small rear window. So my vote is the '67 look.

I have a 67 with a 69 front clip. Get a lot of compliments. Best of both worlds.

Re: 67 vs 69 war time
I recommend you go with the 69 front end on the 69 truck.
Then... Keep the 67 front end for the next project (because we all do it) once we get something "done" we start another one. So make the next one a 67. Then you will have both. OR... I will drive over to see you and take that 67 front end off your hands.

Re: 67 vs 69 war time
I know there's a lot of 69-70 fans. Wonder where they all are. hmmm
Well here's some pics of my truck with a 69 nose and a 67 nose. My truck in the second picture is kinda being used as storage right now from when I moved back to Idaho from Bend, OR. |

Re: 67 vs 69 war time
Interesting, especially if you build 2 clips, still have had many of both and like the cleaner look of the 67, the no side markers are a special touch.

Re: 67 vs 69 war time
We are ready...curve ball us.
Still like 2 clips, like driving a different truck, could flame one front end, leave the other pristine. ![]()

Re: 67 vs 69 war time
Usually the first year of a new design is the best one, as time goes on they get "improved" and "updated" and usually gooped up and busy in appearance. The '67's were clean and had a simple elegance to their style. The GM trucks were pretty radical anyway when introduced (think of Dodge and IH!). When I was five, there was a Chevy Suburban at the Montgomery County fair in Dayton, Ohio that was all cutaway and animated to show off all the new features. I've always called the 67-68's the Camaro trucks- they had similar front end styling cues- kind of a "family" look.
So one day I want a 292 six Suburban- and it will likely be a '67 (ok, maybe a '68)- so that's my vote. Those of us who have GMC's however, don't have this dilemma. If you liked the '67 GMC, you'll probably like the '69... and the '72...

Re: 67 vs 69 war time
I have to say that to me the best look is the '67. I debated all of them when I first started looking and ended with what I think is the best looking choice.
When the seller opened up his garage and I saw that black '67 nose, I realized there was no question which I liked best. These trucks are sleek enough in appearance that I still think they almost look like cars from the front. Set up nicely, I think '67-'68 look very nice indeed. '69's are okay, but I always think of my granpa's truck when I see them. I may be a granpa myself now, but I don't want my truck to look like one.
