Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
Nah, the only 2 factors that relate to the degree of offset of the gear selection indicator from noon is the relationship between the 2 screw holes in the column for the selection indicator and the notch in the column for the brake assembly nipple.

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
Hi. Was it a CPP column? Do you still have the nipple on the brake assembly housing?

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
After 3 weeks of CPP not doing anything to get me an answer on what to do about their offset columns, I gave up and took the column back and bought an IDidIt column. Problem fixed.

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
I was looking at a truck on Bring A Trailer and it has a tilt column.
Was watching the video and it has the indicator crooked - https://youtu.be/2o0nSqZsBME?t=199 Then I went and looked at the pictures and picture 99 shows it's crooked too. |

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
Guess I should link to the auction - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...10-pickup-119/
Seller chimed in and said he thinks it's the CPP column. |

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
or, perhaps another Frankenstein'd truck. Common sense tells me if it were a problem with the manufacture, it would be more commonly seen, and/or corrected. (no brainer)

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
I may have found your issue on fit. While looking thru the Factory Assembly Instruction Manual, I came upon the steering column install. It seems the "Selector Plate Gate and Lever" at the bottom of your column is, well, adjustable within the steering jacket. that leads me to believe if one does nothing with it, your column may not line up as in your example.

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
Exactly, I talked to the CPP techs and they said there is no way to make it straight.

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
And the gear selector can't be relocated right? Because it fits into a slot right?

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
The Steering Column Cannot Be Rotated As It Is Locked Into The Tab On The Brake/Clutch Bracket.
I Will Grind Off The Tab This Weekend. A Ididit Column Is Not In The Budget Right Now Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
Personally I would cut the notch in the column and not grind off the nipple for the brake pedal housing. To some degree that notch in the housing serves that a biit of a safety to reduce the force that the column would push into the cab during a wreck.

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
I just wanted to follow up on this thread and say, I switched to using an iDidIt column and have been very happy with it.

Re: Classic performance parts steering wheel crooked
I installed my CPP column - easy peezy no problem and very happy. it's clearly high quality, which confirms my suspicion that way-early productions of this have been ironed out, or people had Frankenstein rigs they were trying to shoe-horn them into. Also, the entire column can be rotated, for fine tuning where you want it, thus I have no clue what the issue was with yours....that's just bizarro.
