Welded in a lockable tool box into the bed side of the ramp truck. Going to paint it to match the bed better.

1976 GMC Sierra Grande,Took the trans tailshaft housing off and re-assembled the speedo drive gear that came loose,I'm guessing the guy that rebuilt it 50k miles ago did not verify that the clip was locked properly. Started it up after re-assy and it looks like it works. Looking for advice on how to clean up and or paint a rusty master cylinder ?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

No picture but I took my truck to a really good alignment guy and he got the truck to drive a lot better. The last guy aligned it and it drove horrible. The bad news is he said it has a 1/4" diamond in the frame. Not surprised! It was a work truck in Alaska the first 30 years of it's life.

Mine looked like that. I took some thin foam and wrapped with vinyl from Walmart.

Depending on how bad, steel brush, Scotch Brite pad, sandpaper, rust converter, paint. Some combination of this.

Worked in a restoration shop on long island . I have polaroids of it but I believe this is the one since it's one of one 1929 Bentley made for the Paris auto show . The car had been cut up during WWII and was used as a tanker on an RAF airfield . Owner was adamant about leaving the holes in the frame from it being strafed by the luftwaffe. I did the aluminium came as a rough piece I shaped it sanded it to a mirror shine . Took 6 weeks my arms were shot. This was in 1978 .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got the drivers side step for the bed in rust remover to get it clean for priming. Hope to get both sides in epoxy primer by end of weekend. Pulled vent door from passenger side and vacuumed out at least 5 pounds of leaves and junk. Still needs more work but gonna pull drivers side as well.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Stripped the door panels out. Two tiny holes. Think I may have one of the best sets of doors around. I was stoked about not needing to reskin or patch the shell extensively. Installed the 4in rear drop springs and track bar. Working on spindles today.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Repaired bad section in my intermediate wiring harness. Confirmed the tail lights and back up lights would now work (if installed). Will work on stop and turn signal next. Got tired after a day of moving furniture.

Just working on some small stuff while being socially distant. Going to try to get my bed steps fully stripped and in epoxy primer as well.

Finally got around to putting the sound deadener and new carpet. Next weekend will reupholster the bench and then I’m good to get her back on the road. It’s been six weeks since I’ve driven her and I’m going through withdrawals.

Removed the duel exhaust from the headers back. I was able to get one side replaced before i stopped for the day. I got tired of banging my head under the truck. LOL.
