Re: I dont no what I am building haha
Here is the frame table completed with the frame on the table. Table may be a foot to high. I will worry about it later. I want to get to work on the truck.

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
So are you using the frame that is shown in earlier posts? With the Scotts suspension? or are you going to use the one in the photo on top of the frame jig? Are they the same one? It looks like a different one. If your not using the one with the Scotts Suspension, what are you planning on doing?
Your projects are really cool. I enjoy watching your builds. Keep up the good work and good luck with the baby! When my wife and I had our kids the first one was natural, I dont like that too much. Not much you can do while they are in horrible pain, and the second she had an Epidural, that my friend is the only way to fly! Not hardly any pain. Good luck and congratulations! This is a great time in your life. Enjoy. |

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
Just wear your Platform Go-Go Boots when you're working on the truck... that will solve the height problem.

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
I need to set this straight. Just got a call from Justin at Scotts. He set up the notch so when I cut the frame the notch will be flush mounted on the front back and sides of the frame. It is not the standard slip the notch over the frame. He built it this way based on a conversation we had because he new I was boxing the frame. So just wanted to let you guys no it was a misunderstanding between he and I.

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
I agree...if it was cut I agree that would be the best option (cut front and rear)

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
I like it long, maybe just 3" from behind the wheel. If you are going to shorten it in front of the wheel, it needs to be Blazer length, front and back of wheel. I still say leave it l o n g.

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
STICKEL YOU GOTS SKILLS!! Eric you got to shorten it with the section in front of the wheel and behind, i know its more work and tough on the budget but it will be worth more if you ever go to sell it .you can do it!!!

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
Short I think but just make one cut. Move the wheel well instead of cutting the panel twice. Just a thought.
Geez Stick you got me on this one, I think the more I look at the long version the more I like it. Hmmmmm. |

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
I liked your budget idea and trying to keep it as a faster build. Also, look at the shows and longbeds are definitely gaining in popularity....and this looks really cool factory length...plus extra room behind the seats for storage...

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
I like the stock long and low but I'm going against the vote so far and voting for the cut in front of the wheel well if you find the need to shorten. It has great balance without having "just another short bed".

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
If I am going to stay in the budget stock is we're it should be. It will not cost me anything but time to shorten it. But I know me if I shorten it then it will get out of control and I will have 40 k into it before you know it. Also I think you guys need to know I am building this so all three kids and the wife can get in it and go for a ride. My little girl eve alread has the custom bug. She wants a 1960 pink cadillac laid out on air ride.

Re: I dont no what I am building haha
What about stock length but open up the wheel well 4" or so and run a 24" rear to fill up the opening. Just a thought. that would eat up some of the side panel and give it the sporty look with out changing as much.
Either way, it looks awesome. |
