Since I have bags on the truck and no alignment yet, will that still affect it?

With the bags you can set it at your desired ride height and the engine not being in place won't matter.

I would install the bar with it aired up to be in the middle of your ride height range so the end of the sway bar has room to slide for both going up and down in ride height without it pulling out of the bushing.

Excellent advice. Should I use baby powder to help the bushings from squeaking or does that help just to slide them into place? Maybe a light silicon?

Are they rubber or poly bushings? Hard to tell in the pics.

Poly takes a special grease but rubber you can use a silicone spray or even WD40 to get them assembled. I've never tried baby powder.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Truck looks nice!! Something a little different nice LWB. I live over on the eastside of town in the Baytown area. I have several friends that live out in the Tomball/Cypress area. I'm going to check out one of those niffty fiffty shows soon. I have a SWB GMC 70 model and plan on running the same basic suspension setup as you. My question is did you have to do any kind of modifications to your inner fender wells front or back? The fronts look untouched.

They are rubber. WD-40 it is!!!! Baby powder does wonders on stuff like this, especially in humidity.

Welcome to the board!!!! Hope to see ya at one of the shows, with your truck! I did no mods to front or back and it is a 20 22 combo with a c-notch. One peice of advice, don't go with the panhard bar in the back, do a two-link minimum with the stock arms and you will get the straight up and down travel with the bags.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Awsome my first piece of advice. I will definately keep that in mind when I get to that point. I have actually already bought a set of wheels and tires from a friend. the wheels are 20X8.5 front and 20X10 rear. Hear is my wheels on my buddies truck.

That's a sweet truck! I would research it here on the board in the suspension area first then make a well educated decision. A long bed is gonna be a little different from the short of course. I have yet to decide on what to do with mine, but I don't wanna run the panhard bar for sure.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

my panhard bar is run from the driver side frame to passenger side trailing arm, its a lot less movement than the stock ones. the longer the bar, the less movement you have.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

I will have to check into mounting mine on the trailing arm then. My panhard bar is adjustable so maybe I can make it extend far enough or put another end on it to adjust it futher. Thanks Kev!

np! the one i bought was extendable too but cpp makes 3 sizes i think, and i got the shortest one lol. i just cut it in half, welded a 1" thick bar in between in the length that i needed. works fine!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Talked with the engine shop today..........he actually did something. He sprayed the engine with brake cleaner where the crack is supposed to be and could not get anything to come through. He said the timing chain cover is coming off tomorrow so he can better see the suspect area and then weld as needed. I asked when I could get it and he said the end of this week or sometime next week. Yep, I can live with that.

Hope he makes sure to get all the brake cleaner out of the crack before welding on it. Makes some nasty stuff if theres any left and it gets heated. I think its like Phosgene gas. Used during the 1st war to gas the troops. Good luck on the engine. The trucks awesome.

Long time, no hear! He's about as sharp as a bowling ball, maybe I should call him before he kills himself with the homemade chemical weapons. Never heard that before, pretty cool info! Thanks for stopping by eagleuh1!!!!

I hate to bring it out without the bed and the interior done, but it might just happen before the end of the Niftee 50ees 2011 season.
