Ok, here's the proof. I could have stayed with the cool sunroof, but it leaks, and with all the rain we get here (12" - 14" a year) that just won't do. The last pict is a teaser. Our 5.3 wrecker motor is about ready to go in. We followed the harness rework thats posted here (we usually use a painless kit) it took about 7 hrs to do, and double check. things are going good.

I thought the 'skin' joke was pretty good. Yep, I feel for you guys as I watch the news and see the snow, rain, ice,....Brrrrrrrr, Its so cold here I had to wear a long sleave shirt today. I think friday we will work on rear shocks and panhard rod. The first real upgrades.

I'm feelin pretty good about this. After dropping another 2" in back, we ran into the same trouble as everyone else. The shock issues. After researching the other kits, and solutions, and thinking about it, we came up with a plan. Here are some of the problems we noted. 1. No room for a longer shock, even with reworked or 'dropped' mounts. 2. shock angle gets worse, the lower you go. 3. If we go another 2" (8 total) we're screwed again. 4. the exhaust is a nightmare. 5. the inboard shock design doesn't handle that great. With this in mind, we set out for a fix. This is the whole idea behind the JT, to come up with tested components that WORK, and will HELP get more trucks on the road to be enjoyed.

I am also using this forum, and site to set the record straight. I am sure we will be copied. Now there is lasting, dated proof, and those who 'knock-off' will be called out. This kit will come with 2 different length shocks. A 10" stroke shock for the stock to 4" drop guys, and a 8" stroke shock for the 6" to 10" drops. Once the stock shocks and mounts are gone, the new lower mounts are a direct replacement.

The new upper mounts locate to the frame with a factory 5/8" hole. We provede a big bolt to hold and align the new mount. You have to drill the two 3/8" holes.

Then your all but done. Just bolt on the shocks and mount studs, all included.

After somt drive time, I am happy to report that the difference is clear. Body roll is reduced, and the ride is very smooth. The outboard location is a benefit in many ways. With a good quality monotube shock, these kits wil run about $185.00 I think thats a good deal for the gains. Just remember, You saw it here FIRST.

I like the shock mounts! Any thoughts on installing them on a bagged truck? Would sure give some more room for exhaust over the axle.

Sould be fine with bags. I plan on using a 255 bag on the back soon, as I need to tow a small trailer. Currently it has a 4" drop spring. As for the tab, this is part of the panhard rod mount plate. ( one on each arm) This is a planned mount for the rear sway bars we are working on.

Do you have any plans to try this shock set-up with a 5"-6" drop spring?

I would think the upper shock bracket placement would only work with the 4" drop springs you installed?

With that arrangement of the brackets, it's limited @ the upper mount because of the bed floor. The lower mount can possibly drop down some but will likely encounter scrub-line issues @ some point.

More drop is no problem. The shock in the photo Measures - now get this - 22.5" open, and 12.25" closed. Now, not too many of us have use for 10+" of travel, but the longer shock has a larger resivour. To go lower, we just use a shorter shock. The shock shown will still have a 1/2" of stroke left when the axle hits the frame. For trucks with shorter springs and C notches, we use a shock that measures 9" closed, and 16" open. This still has 7" of travel.

That's hard to tell from the pics & good for those w/more drop. That's still a decent length shock.

Rob - I like the new setup. I am running an aluminum rear differential cover that is causing intereference with the long double adjustable panhard bar. I think the new bracket that you have on the passenger job might correct this interference issue. Can the bracket be flipped over and still bolt on? How much would just that bracket be? Here's some pictures of what I'm talking about. Thanks,

Rob,... don't you think a spring with 2" more drop will change the angle of the shock?
I picture it being "layed down" at a more horizontal angle,... unless the upper shock mount is moved forward.
Maybe it's not enoungh to matter.
Your thoughts?
