Ordered a Fan Shroud today so when im playing with the engine it will stop getting so hot!! LOL I was really hoping to have enough money to get her registered but bad luck strikes again. My dryer blew out so I had to go buy a new one. So fun times blah! lol I did manage to put a lil bit aside for it though so soon she will hit the road...legally

Well snuck in a little work before the lights went out. Moved the stang to mow the lawn, then removed the driver side seat, and pulled up the carpet on that side to check to see if there was any rust through.. Looks/sounds solid! I was pretty surprised. Its suppose to rain tomorrow so im not sure im going to be able to work on the floor plan or not.. BLAH!

Well its been raining all day but it stopped for 30 minutes and i went at it! I cut out the rest towards the door and ground down the lip a bit but i need to get a new grinding wheel. I then cut the floor pan down to fit the length and bent the lip up the way its suppose to be. (Read that convertibles lips go down and that's how the pan came). I then tested fit it to see how it looked. I still need to do some more cutting to fit the with as well as where it goes up on an angle. Plus my bent up lip isnt perfectly straight so i need to pound on it some more.

More cutting grinding and fitting this A.M. Need to get some weld through primer, punch some holes, clean stuff up and get ready for welding

And after my lunch break i went back to work! Wire wheel and metal metal brush prep followed by some red rustroleum...Yeah a little bright but its all i had and it wont be seen. Ill have to wire wheel the edges again for weld thru primer but no biggie. Then I drilled/punched all my spot weld holes. So now i wait for weld thru primer and welding

Looking good!! I remember when I went to weld on the inner rocker panels, I had to grind where I was welding due to galvanized metal. It didn't look like it, but it didn't like to be welded. Maybe they didn't do it on all stangs, but worth looking into before you get started. On a friends 66, I had no problems welding in his floor pans (on inner rockers)cause it wasn't galvanized.

It was coated pretty good and i used the grinder and wire wheel on it to get the stuff off so i should be good to go. Thanks for the info

Installed the 20" Radiator fan shroud and WOW! Its like wind tunnel when i get out of the car with the hood up! That is crazy but the engine should stay nice and cool. Also removed the bottom the the rear seat. Well found about a 3"x2" rusty hole. not too bad as it seems like the only one but the rear window is definitely leak as it was wet under the seat. So I really need to get the weather strips replaced or get a carport so i can keep this car from getting so wet

Removed all the seats and carpet. Then cleaned up the floor board some... Here you can see the rust. Also have everything coated with rust through primer and ready to weld in...Definitely work to be done in the back

Have you crawled up under the dash yet? That's usually the worst area. I was just under mine, it's beautiful. I have all the heat/air stuff out of the car right now. I think I found the most rust free car I've ever personally seen.

i think this is from the windows rotted seals but its hard to say. The truck was much worse so no biggie. Ive looked down under the dash from the top and under a bit and didnt notice much if any rust. On the other mustang i saw where it was rusty under the dash pad real bad so when i got the dash pad off this one i looked for that lol

I would remove the quarter windows completely and clean out/rust kill in there too. Mine was already pretty clean, but I did it to mine with some rust encapsulator. I highly recommened watching some youtube videos on how to remove/reinstall them (there's a couple good ones on there) but once you actually do one, it's not bad at all. If your windows work pretty good, I would just buy new rollers (like 0.75C each), grease everything really well, and reinstall. Mine work beautifully now. They can also be adjusted so you can get a nice square/straight line when compared to front door windows.

I'm also starting to hate my car. Trying to get all the leaks cleaned up and you have to take off 5 parts to get to the one part you need to take off... DAMN YOU FORD! I just took off the sway bar, drag link, and center cross brace to drop my oil pan.

Busy morning full of rookie mistakes making my weld job harder. Lesson learned...ALWAYS secure your pan in place before you start welding...I knew this but didn't so needless to say it ended up being a pain in the ass and shifting. I got it to work but damn!!!!

I also ran out of wire in the middle of the weld in but o well... First pic is when i ran out of wire and the second is completed welding.... Still got to do a bunch of grinding and prob weld a little more and flux core wire suxs and i do nasty welds with it lol Plus i created more gaps with the shift and had to use some space metal that didn't help much...Oddly enough the spacers i used were some old steel codder pins that's were huge....Another case of my grandfathers parts bin to the rescue lol

Did some grinding today but not enough to take pics of. Ill work on it some more during the week. I also worked on the electrical issues a bit. The rear running lights were all messed up. One was new but the old cut wire hadnt been re-attached and the brake light didnt work on that side either. So i pulled the old cables and attached the new one. Put it all together and all of a sudden the brake light started working. Guess its looped together some how or something was grounding out. The other side is cut as well but even when attached they dont work so i need new bulbs for it. I started pulling a part the headlight wiring but need to pull it out. One wire is frayed all to hell and melted. I replaced it but the passenger side headlight/blinker is all jacked. When the headlights are on the headlight blinks sometimes but sometimes not. Its not supposed to so something is crossed somewhere on that side only. So im going to pull the harness and fix it. Also cut the muffler out of the exhaust not knowing it was basically the only hanger so my pipe is almost on the ground but actually on top of the rear axel. Sounds much more muscular though lol Lots of work to do.

Also check out my whole while i was it and rats to the gas lines running right under the damn whole...So i have to take the hard gas lines down before i can even think about cutting and welding in a patch for the hole in the back
