Yes, we made the lower motor mounts. I'll put up a layout of the rear Z. This week we installed a Richmond Gear "LockRight" posi. The cost $398. + 23.88 for oil and a new gasket. The install was easy, and we're not gear guys here. We opened it up and followed the directions. No special tools needed. It took about 2 hrs. We put it on the scales. Now for comparison, It's pretty stock, no A/C, iron 4 speed, 350. Total weight is 3796. it lays out like this - LF = 1188, RF = 1106, LR = 755, RR = 747. Front weight is 60.4% It's easy to see that we should move EVERYTHING back, and to the right. This is without the driver, who will only make things worse. Our new (used) Ls, is lighter and farther back, and the headers will help too. The L460 is lighter than the 4 speed, and we have already moved the tank and battery back. THEN< last night we went back to the track. The posi makes it a whole new deal. It used to be a drift out of every corner, now it grips and goes. A bit too much if your used to the drift (can induce a spin, once or twice ) But with only the posi added our times dropped to 54.45 sec. Thats about 1 1/2 sec off our previos best 56.10. And the fun continues......

The front truck arm mounts are flipped 180° where they're riveted to the x-member. It raises the front pivot point of the T/A's approx 3.25" effecting the I/C, pinion angle, & rear axle position within the wheel-wells.

Can I get more info the LSD you installed? Did you replace any existing LSD rear diff with this unit or a standard open diff carrier? Does this require you to "set-up" the R+P to install? Thanks

For the LSD lockright, we started with an open diff. Once opened, it looked pretty good, no gear damage. We simply marked the rings and dissassembled. Once the locker was in place, we installed into the same ring position, and then checked the backlash, and gear track. It was OK, so no other set up was needed. The instructions were good, and coming from a guy who is a bit shy of the gear - tranny thing, I thought it was pretty easy. (yes, I see the joke in there)

I'll get some more chassis picts. Yesterday we fired the LS in the new chassis, and it fired right up. Then, we noticed the oil pressure, or lack of it. Mike pulled the filter, and fired it, and it seemed to move a bunch of oil. While he was working on that, I finished up the front 1/2 of the exhaust, back to the mufflers, and we fired it again. Shut it off. No oil pressure. Mike pulled the front off, and managed to get the pump out without pulling the pan. The timing chain was loose, so we changed both. $218.00 later, and 3 hrs, fired it up again. Great, 40 lbs at idle, and 70 lbs above 2000 rpm. And, no lifter noise. I worked a bit more on exhaust and then called it quits. Joe is comin alive. I'll get some picts up mon.

Her I am doing some exhaust work. 2 1/2" tube and magnaflow mufflers. I'm going through the chassis, and over the axle.

OK, here's a secret mod. for the JT. Caster makes you Faster, but with stock parts, 2 or 3 deg. is all you can get. From Speedway motors, i bought 2 lower ball joint sleeves, pt. # 910-34818, and 2 new lower ball joints, pt. # 917-20038. Total cost with shipping was $68.28. Using a BFH and a piece of tubing, I smacked the ball joints out. It's the JT, so, no high tech tools on the project. Using a square and clamps, I set up the arms on a drill press to cut a new hole. The new hole, cut with a 2 1/4" hole saw, is 1/4" farther out, and 1" forward, of the original ball joint hole. Then I welded in the new sockets and added a filler piece. I had to do a bit of shaping on the leading edge and weld that cut up too. The whole project took 2 hrs. No sand blasting or powder coat, it all rattle can and wire brushes for the JT. On our test stand, the simple mod delivers and easy 1 deg. - camber and 8 deg. + caster, with 1/8" shim at each uper bolt.

I know it's not real pretty, but it's all function. The bushings and shafts are good, so no new parts there. from here we panted, and installed like stock.

Rob, is that new ball joint a standard GM replacement ball joint or specific to the sleeve only? Reason for the question is I already have new ball joints so would be nice to be able to use them. Also is it possible to elaborate on your method for measuring for the new hole? Thanks for your time and contribution on this subject.

I dont think it would work with most 15" wheels, and drop spindles,... but JT has the Irocs, so it won't matter.

The balljoint is a stock 73-87 part #, which fits 71-72 spindles as well. I'd bet your right on the 15" with drop spindles - problem, 17" w/DS would clear OK.

Well it's time. We parked the old JT next to the straight frame and cab. With the 5.3 running and plummed, it's time to swap over. We started with diss-assembly, and the transfer of the front spindles/brakes, the rear axle, and now the booster/master. Next we will start to plumb the brake lines. Waiting on an Ididit tilt column, and thier new push-button ignition.
