I'm at a tuff spot, I thought it would be fairly easy fabricating the front part of the radiator and bumper mount.... I think I'm just tired of fabricating right now because I feel so overwhelmed by getting it welded up and square and not having the front end crooked. And I think I might have moved the wheel a bit to far forward. But no changing that now.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
59Stepside, are you anywhere near the Harland Check printer plant? I've been to Tampa quite a few times at that plant. I guess now it's called Harland Clarke. The Tampa guy's used to call me "Oh Canada". Treated me to the "Cabaret". Follow me? LOL! I think your 59 will end up being the same as my 51. After many and I mean many beer, there's going to be enough shimming room to adjust your front end. I was out pondering and sipping and figure it's only beer and welding wire. Both can be restocked.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
Great work, your front wheel looks centered to me, on my truck I bolted the front clip on just using the top and bottom bolts on the rear of the fenders, mounted the inner fenders and bolted them to the rad support, I then lifted the whole front clip off and on as one piece while I was test fitting it and getting the rad support mounts in the right place and trimming the inner fenders.
Here's a shot of my 59 at about the same angle to show you the wheel placement. Quote:

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
Hard to see but it's on flat tires w/ 14" rims and touching the ground. I'm going with 17" rims up front to keep the the truck out of the scrub line. I'm going to order rims and tires today. I'm going with vision legend 5 -142 chrome 17's and 20's.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
I like the stance, get them radiator support mounts finished and you'll be cruising. If the bottom hose outlet on the radiator hits the anti roll bar ,just slide the radiator up a wee bit and drill some new mounting holes in the rad support.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
Thx Kim and bigtim,
Crazy thing is, I went just a little more forward with the wheelbase so the rad support mount was right on the steering box. I cut everything around it so it would clear the steering box. So ended up loosing the original mounting spots on bottom of support. I did some fabricating and got it on there. I decided to move the radiator in front of the support and that created a lot of extra cutting and fitting to get it right. I think it looks pretty sweet with it so close to the grill, but now I need to figure out a different way to latch the hood. --anyone ever have an issue with the rear of the hood sitting up real high when closed. But can push it down with hand. It was like that before. But it's even worse now.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
Rims and tires are on. Ordered the cool ride airbag kit because with the 2" drop spindles this thing is pretty much on the ground. I have an inch or so from bottom of headers and tranny pan.
And I will drop the rear when time and money permits, but goal is to get it drivable right now...

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
Yeah, to low to drive it... I'm hope that I can get it high enough with the airbags to have a decent height to get around town w speed bumps and driveways.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
stock spindles will get your static ride height correct and level out the truck
they will also safe you the cost of bagging it do you plan on c-notching the rear? you will spend lots of time clunking the frame if not. with stock springs plan on a minimum 4'' notch, 5'' would be better i used a 3'' notch and had to use air shocks to keep off my bump stops

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
Thanks ogre. The drop spindles are brand new and paid $$ for them because I had to get new spindles and didn't want to invest in airbags right away. So I figured I would pay a little extra and get the 2" drop and bag it later. So I just went ahead and got the front airbags to solve my ride height issue and get the bags I wanted in the long run.
