Re: Old Blue eyeS updates with pics!

Beautiful color choice.

I do have a ?. Have you had the hood stricker plate on the core support yet? The reason I ask is I just mounted my condenser and there wasn't enough room for my condensor to sit that far forward. Just wandering if I could have done something different. Here is a pic of what I'm taliking about. It's hard to tell from this angle, but I only have about an 1/4" of clearance between the condenser and stricker plate.

Great work. Keep it up.

Yea, that one came with the kit orginally, but it didn't clear the front clip sides... so I got a smaller one... I will post pics this week.

I didn't cut the top roof off, I sandbalsted the entire thing, then just cut out the cancer and made pieces to go back in and welded them in. it was a lot easier than cutting entire roof. then just grinded off the drip rail and welded and grinded...lol nothing fancy..

exactly why I eliminated it.. the only rust was caused by the drip rail. Nice start!!

The drip rail is there for a reason, drive one in the rain without it and you will see what I mean !! I did the whole roof thing on my 62 a few weeks ago, I just got another roof and made all the repairs inside and outside with the metal from the other truck, yours looks like the exact rust I had...get another roof from any year...the panels are all the same and make the repairs.finding a 60-63 good roof will be near impossible, I looked for 8 years in CA and never found one, let me know if I can help you in any way

don't get me wrong....I think your truck looks awesome without the drip rail, and if my truck had more severe rust... I would have shaved it too, I just know how my friends trucks leaks without the rail, in Vegas....you just need to have the A/C working and your good lol, ! did you use the vintage air kit on your truck ?

Re: Old Blue eyeS updates with pics!

Looks like you used silica sand? The dust from that is very dangerous. Hopefully you wore a good respirator while blasting your truck. The sand that is left on the ground can be a hazard also, especially if you have pets and/ or kids. Certain primers don't adhere well when applied over steel that has been blasted with silica sand.

Not trying to be an ashat, just wanted to warn you in case you didn't know.

Re: Old Blue eyeS updates with pics!

Thanks guys! yea... totally retro on the scallops.... the original truck was repainted by a previous owner with scallops... who knows what year... but I liked the color combination...and the scallops... so I recreated the look and similar colors... but wanted the flat paint... looks better in person...

the wood is stained... its a color stain... its a new product from home depot... their best.. polymer ...6 years waterproof...the wood is a beautiful oak and was sanded lightly to accept stain... two coats...you can still see the grain... I think it will look good installed, but we will see...

Thanks!! I am so looking ofrward to next Friday... should be driving day THen the interior will be next, as soon as I save up some more money..lol..

The stain is color matchable. I found a color that I wanted, and they matched it.. BUT check to be sure you like it !! take a piece of the wood with you to check it out.. I ended up not liking the initial stain color (too grey), but since I had a piece of the wood with me, I was able to have them tweek it right there.

It was something like $36.00 for the gallon. Only need one though. I believe it is Behr Premium tintable base waterproofing wood stain. It's a brand new product. It's waterproof and stain in one.

Better paint pics, and windows in and grill on... i like the dual headlights, and the 60 grill is my preference. maybe eventually back totrue 62 grill at some time, but not for right now...

bed goes on next week looks like.. was hoping this week.. but oh well..
