Anyone know if this part is available ?

This is the plastic spacer/bearing that goes on the bottom of the shifter base on a 64 steering column. It keeps the inner shaft center and supported at the top of the column. I have checked several catalogs etc with no luck. Any help appreciated.

Try these guys www.steeringcolumnservices.com When I needed a rare part for a Caddy tilt/tele column, they had it.

Is this on a 3 speed manual shift or automatic?

Re: Anyone know if this part is available ?

Maybe that is specific to the manual shift because I don't remember seeing that in my 66 w/auto. I just bought a new turn signal assembly and it has the bearing which supports the steering shaft.

Thanks for that info. Good web site but they told me they do not have the part I'm looking for. Darn it

Copy that, I have a upper shaft bearing . The part I'm seeking supports the inner shifter tube. With out the part there is serious play and wobble in the steering column. It's a plastic part and I'm sure they get brittle and break over time. Thanks for the reply

Check suppliers for horn button and turn signal parts.

I've taken a few columns apart and never seen that part there, something doesn't look right.

Comparing this exploded view to your part I don't see where there would be a plastic spacer or washer. The only washers are the one above and below but neither are plastic.

The only lower gear shift washer I've seen looks like this:

That's what I think it is supposed to be to, then the screw holds it in place.

Re: Anyone know if this part is available ?

So here is another photo of the part in place. Thank you lugnutz65 for the photo. It goes just above the part that you are showing. The part is also visible in a couple of other photos that lugnutz65 has of a disassembled column. It's the yellowish plastic part in the photo.

Regardless , sounds like this part is not made anymore. Thanks for all the imput.

I think we all are looking too high--the washer(bearing/spacer?) he needs is the part pictured as number (9)--3756174; this is what GM calls a "washer assembly" in the exploded view. It looks like it acts as a spacer/bushing between the inner and outer tubes.

Correct me if I am wrong; use that reference/with picture in placing an order if you think this is correct.
Good luck,
Sam
