Seat Belt Repair kit

The seat belts on my 72 don't retract so where I got them apart it turns out someone already had run at them trying to fix them and it didn't work. I need the round plastic pieces and one spring and one bolt. i checked a couple of vendors sites and haven't found a repair kit listed. Does anyone know of a vendor who sells repair kit, Failing that i guess i'll have to scour the wrecking yards or see if I can find some in the For Sale section.

Re: Seat Belt Repair kit

Yeah I just bought a used set of seatbelts from a 72 and if fully extended out they don't want to retract. They get stuck. I was wondering myself if they can be adjusted. There is a Philips screw and bolt holding the roller in place.

Could you maybe harvest what you need from these?

Re: Seat Belt Repair kit

Here are a couple links to previous threads that may help.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=584809

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=627186

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=627184

There were apparently 2 different retractor mechanisms made. I've also seen 2 different floor brackets and 2 slightly different boots.

Re: Seat Belt Repair kit

Thanks for the links guys. I am getting educated here and can see getting the right parts for my specific application can be difficult.

Re: Seat Belt Repair kit

If you figure out what part you need, let me know and I will pay it forward and let you have them. (Just pay shipping)
I'm pretty sure I have a couple taken apart in my garage. I can check this week end if you are interested.

Thank you very much. I know what i need. I need 2 clear plastic sleeves and one spring. My both plastic sleeves were broken and one had been held together with duct tape and put back together. The other clear plastic roller was in pieces when they were taken apart.

Re: Seat Belt Repair kit

Are these the ones I sent last year? If so, please accept my apologies. I thought I had included everything.

I have a couple of spare retractors here, if Acorn doesn't, and would be happy to get them off to you.

Thanks for the post. You didn't send me belts you just sent me a cover which I received and used on different truck.

There were two different suppliers for the seatbelts. One was Robbins, can't remember the other, but they are slightly different. I don't think it matters what year truck as I have seen them both in all years.

OK, I remembered I had sent you something and I remember I sold a set of seat belts last year. Memory is fading on details. Temporary loss of cabin pressure.

If you find you are still in need, let me know.

Re: Seat Belt Repair kit

Already Gone, so are you going to send your seat belts to be restored or would you still like me to look for the parts?

Thanks, but I am going to send them to snakeolyl so I won't need the parts you offered but I really appreciate the offer.

Re: Seat Belt Repair kit

I have a question about seat belt rebuilding. The plastic shroud that goes over the entire belt and mechanism, do you feed the belt down through it before you reassemble the belt retractable pieces, or is there a trick to getting it on after you have the belt all put back together? The buckle is much wider than the opening of the shroud. Not sure here and looking for tricks or advice. Thanks

I use a hair dryer to heat the cover and make it more pliable. Be very careful using a heat gun, I would not use one. Sitting them out on a warm sunny day may work as well.
